This stretch of markets boasts several antique shops and food markets, and is a favorite destination for relocation to London. Tourists flock to Notting Hill because of it's various attractions, as well as their appreciation of the film of the same name, "Notting Hill." This London village is centrally located, has a thriving counter-culture scene, and is surrounded on three sides by Metro stations that open up the rest of London.   • The markets of Portabello Road run throughout Notting Hill. London Saturday mornings are a fun adventure, when you come down to the nearly two-mile long stretch of stalls and peruse the goods. Antiques, vegetables, clothes... There is a very eclectic mix at the markets. It is one of those activities that make you realize you aren't a tourist, but a member of the community.
  • The Notting Hill Carnival is a brilliant, if somewhat anachronistic, annual event that has been held each year since 1966. A celebration of Caribbean culture, floats, live music, and colorful festival costumes, this carnival and parade are famous the world over, and a favorite destination for tourists in the Summer months.
  • While the area is now a popular place to live for upper-middle class workers in London, it is known primarily for the film of the same name. Many locations in and around Notting Hill were used during the filming, so you're likely to find the shops or your bank were in the film at one point or another.
