If you are moving to London then you are moving to one of the greatest cities in the world and will be able to revel in the history and pomp and circumstance that the English are all about. When you have settled into your new London rental apartment, then give yourself the chance to see London as a tourist before you settle into the life of being a native Londoner. Immerse yourself in the sights and sounds of the London tourist hot spots, and experience everything that London has to offer. There are over 200 museums in London alone, and they are geared up for the whole family to enjoy and experience. There are also a number of specialised museums that offer a more interesting look at different facets of English life that you may like to visit.

Modern Museums mean MORE fun!

The Victoria and Albert Museum: Commonly known as the V & A this museum offers visitors that chance to view over 3 000 years worth of art as well as design in other crafts. There are a number of fine exhibits of ceramics and furniture and well as paintings and modern art. The V & A is an iconic museum in London and you have to see everything that it has to offer. It has a permanent section as well as a large section of visiting exhibitions that draw thousands of people every year. This is an arts and crafts lover’s haven and you’ll find modern photography, fashion, jewellery and glass design among the exhibits. The entry is free unless it is a specialised exhibition requiring a ticket.

The Imperial War Museum: If you are interested in the history of war as well as the history of weaponry and the development of weapons, then you have to spend some time in the Imperial War Museum. There is the internationally renowned Holocaust exhibit, as well as fascinating look at the way that wars and big battles have been fought throughout the ages. Entry is free except for special exhibits.

London Transport Museum: Transport if a hot subject in London and has been the topic of a number of these articles. At the London Transport Museum, you can see how transport has built the city, and the part that the transport system and vehicles have plaid in the development of the city of London. There is an entry fee to this museum, but it is well worth it if you are interested in transport and heritage transport like the Routemaster buses and the black cabs of London.

You can spend days wandering through the museums of London and still only have seen a fraction of them. It’s an important part of living in London and you’ll gain much insight into life in London; they way it used to be as well as the modern life that so many Londoners lead.
